During 2011 the Social Security Administration decided to stop mailing annual statements. This was announced in April as a cost-saving move. They hoped to have statements online by the end of the year. But there is still no word when the statement mailings will resume. You can go online to www.ssa.gov/estimator (paste into your browser) to estimate your benefits; however, you can’t verify your earnings record at this time.
Plus One:
The Social Security Administration announced in October a 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment for 2012. This increase came after two years without any cost-of-living increase. A course, the increase will boost everyone covered under Social Security, whether or not they are currently receiving Social Security benefits.
